Temporary Skill Shortage visa (subclass 482) (short-term stream)

 
This is the type of visa used when Australian employers wish to sponsor overseas workers in their business. This visa can be approved up to 2 or 4 years.

It is essential that you have a minimum of two years’ full-time employment in the sponsored role, must have minimum vocational English, good health and be of good character as well. There may be additional criteria to meet as well, depending on your nationality and the position you will be performing. You can include your spouse and children in this visa.

Standard Business Sponsorship
Prior to lodging your visa (subclass 482), your employer needs to lodge two applications
a) The Standard Business Sponsorship Application and
b) The Nomination Application.
The business must be lawfully operating and demonstrate operation as well as making certain declarations to the DHA.

Nomination
The nomination requires the business demonstrate that the position is genuine and needed within the business, and there is a variety of additional criteria to be met:

 
 
→The occupation must be on the STSOL or the MLTSSL.
→The terms and conditions of employment must not be less favourable to those offered to an Australian in the same role.
→The market salary rate must be greater than the temporary skilled migration income threshold (TSMIT), and not lower than the market salary rate of that position in that region.
→Labour Market Testing must be completed prior to the lodgement of the nomination.
